And Breakfast television within the states must be strange to organise with breakfast in New York at say 7am being 4am in Los Angeles...

Well ABC, NBC and CBS's shows are live on the East Coast, but on the West Coast everything's tape delayed. So it goes on at 7am everywhere in the Lower 48 (I think). But look at CNN's 'America Morning.' Now IT goes on at 7am on the East Coast, and 4am out west. Wonder what kind of people watch that. (and one of the reasons I've never seen the show.)

That is very true. One of the glaring mistakes with this is that when for example Los Angeles gets all their network news at 7:00am, and (let's say) Good Morning America (ABC) does an interview between NY and LA, and it's dark in LA while an aston says 'Live @ 7:10am'. The only thing that is really LIVE is the news and weather opt-outs from the local stations.

CBS however did a 'west coast edition' of 'This Morning' a couple of years ago where the New York peeps did a live broadcast for the western states for I think the first portion of the program, then the rest of it was the taped edition done earlier.

Same goes for the evening network programs. The Eastern and Central Timezones get them live while the rest of the country does them later on in the evening.

Just a footnote, the individual local stations add their own time and temperature DOG on the network morning programs.

I think it would be better to put the live broadcast stream on BBC News Online 24/7

so you could watch it in Hong Kong?

I don't think that would be possible as of Copyright for films and stuff. Plus in a partially irrelevent thing I think there should be the odd musical performace on Brekkie. Maybe the chart prediction on Friday.
