Did anyone else here watch Britain's Real Monach as Tony Robinson went in search of the real monach of England.
Following research for his earlier Fact of Fiction programme on Richard III, evidence confirmed that Edward IV was eligitimate which meant George, his younger brother, should have been King, rather than executed by drowning in wine for Treason.
Other co-incidences come up later in history, with Queen Elizabeth being rather friendly with the real King Henry VIII during her reign, although turning her back on him when she discovered his link to the throne. And during the reign of Queen Victoria, the real King George III challenged the Queens chief representative to a duel that never happened over the death of his sister.
Henry X lost the family fortune, and in 2002 Queen Barbara I died in her home, meaning succession passes on to King Michael I, who emigrated to Australia in 1960.
Brilliant programme which was entertaining and raised alot of what ifs. Especially liked the reaction of the real princesses, and the credit sequence where Tony Robinson got himself nighted.
