Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow

Pretty much a retake on Gameshow Marathon in my opinion. (May 2020)

I thought that this format suited Alan really well, especially the Yes/No game

Strike it Lucky next week, which I also think will suit Alan well.

I liked when they sat him in the car at the end, brought back memories of when Brucie used to manhandle people into cars at the end of Bruce’s Price is Right

Was trying to think of the last time a game show gave away a car as the star prize. Someone on Twitter suggested Can't Touch This from the other year but it must be a while since it was a prize unrelated to the game itself.

Alan described it as a nineties game show, although that in itself would be ancient history to much of the audience. This year we've had new entertainment shows with the credits "Crackerjack devised by Eammon Andrews" and "Take Your Pick devised by Michael Miles", a golden age of innovative entertainment. Nice to see Des got a credit too, for writing the theme tune.

Take Your Pick is actually my favourite so far, despite it being my least favourite to watch old episodes of out of the three. I did wonder how they'd pad it out to a whole hour but I thought it worked quite well.

I wonder if any of these are going to be considered pilot episodes for a full series.

Prize Island? But that was in addition to £50,000.

I think the series itself is a pilot driver for each of them. I'm looking forward to Strike It Lucky next week, I think this will be Alan's strongest episode.

I agree with the assessment of some that this was Alan's strongest show yet. It seemed like he was really enjoying the Yes No game, and Shaun Wallace was a good choice of assistant.

Take Your Pick being the strongest yet for Alan bodes well for this.

I would actually swap out Shaun Wallace for Mel Sykes, I think that would work quite well for a series as they work fantastic together on their summer radio show

I personally quite liked Shaun Wallace on there. Although the dithering on the heavy box slowed the pace, I felt it was definitely Carr's best show so far.

it’s probably deemed a bit sexist now to have a female doing a lesser role like that; it’s not quite a ‘hostess’ job on TYP but not far off.

They could get Fabio from Cats Countdown to do it

TYP was good, only just got the chance to watch it. Alan was in his stride with the Yes/No game.

Disappointing Box 13 was dropped and I felt that part of the show was the weakest anyway, with little prizes of any note and Alan providing derisory cash offers in 2020 standards.

The endgame round was again disappointing like most of them have been. The coloured boxes weren't there all along so there was no sense the winning box being truly randomised. And there wasn't much substance to the final endgame apart from being a large-scale Deal or No Deal rip off.

Overall it was ok. There was a bit more opportunity for contestant interaction on this one which Alan dealt with quite well. Like someone else said, it puts him in good stead for Strike It Lucky. Though I've absolutely no idea how they're going to bulk that out to an hour. The game element was only barely half the show.
