such a shame, when the beeb did an amazing job with their vr recreation of BBC National News studio
. But i think a dodgy studio always makes the new one look better. unless it's rubbish in the first place.

The set should be finished by the end of this week ready for rehearsals next weekend. You know if you live in London you can now look thorugh the front windows of ITN to see the studio / front of newsroom. For the last two years the windows were blocked by the 5 news wall (the big coloured wall) before that you could look through so make the most of it.

I really did like the original look, it was just perfect, but this white one is chronic, and I hope we'll see something a bit more lively. Its a pitty because every now and again you see shots of the colourful news room (at lunch time when they go to the editor [just thought have they done that in the last few months?]), but last week I saw a section that was done from the newsroom and I agree it is very dull. Its quite funny how they are having to squeeze things in (like the film guy in the office) etc.
Yeah, the original 5 News newsroom/studio was definitely the best. Unlike other TV newsrooms, you could see lots of the technical things going on, the normally get hidden away (I remember Richard Whitely once saying about how boring the YTV newsroom is, just like any old office, and that they should do the news from down where the engineers and techies are cos that's more exciting). Also, despite all the bright colours and video walls and things, it seemed like a real working newsroom - the Sports, Politics and Business Desks really seemed to be the desks where the Sports, Political and Business Editors would work all day! Lots of nice details too, like the set of 'New Labour', 'Tory Tea' etc. mugs on the Politics desk...
The white one was so boring I thought it was a temporary set the first time I saw it.. Looking forward to the new look, it surely must be better than the white set even if it's not gonna include the newsroom...
