Too bad they didn't put "Details in Radio Times" for the full effect, haha.
I liked how they used 70s style continuity but didn't actually pretend it was the 70s. They could have written "Details on www.bbc.co.uk" on the menus without it looking out of place.
Apart from the glaring inaccuracies of the recreations (wrong fonts, film scratches added, etc.), that was a pretty good effort. Now, wish I'd set a second recording up for post-film announcements, but I didn't realise they were going to take it that far! Brilliant. I had often dreamed that they would do this some day, but never thought it would actually happen!
The background of the menu is a carefully photoshopped background taken from VHS, dunno if any of you noticed that.
What it realllllllly needed at closedown though, was the clock.
Just so we can feel like we've had a whole 70s evening with David, here's one of his startups I recreated using audio a real startup, some time ago. There is an error on the clock hands shadows, somehow got the layers mixed up and didn't notice.
You'll also find the original on YouTube which includes other examples of slides used to promote the coming programmes.

STILL with the old 1972 ident. any plans for 1974 one?
I wasn't expecting it to be tonight (Saturday was mentioned before in the topic, but that appears to have changed) - and next week is only two days away... We shall see.
Some BBC1 archive pres in tonight's episode. That it's from an old tape source is forgivable, but they've cropped it to fit the 16:9 frame and it looks awful - a shame, really.
