160 Great Portland Street: The snail mail address to Discovery Channel Europe, UKTV, Bravo, Challenge, Trouble, plus a load of other obscure companies.

What is this place? are the flextech and discovery family of channels played out from here? or is this just a bunch of admin offices?

Does anybody know anything about this building?

It's the offices of Flextech.

None of their channels actually come from there though - Living, Bravo, TVTS etc come from RTL/Thames in Tottenham Court Road. The UKTV channels come from BBC TV Centre

Thanks for that, Larry. Do you know if the same is true for Discovery, just out of interest?

Challenge TV used to come from Maidstone, but when they stopped The Games Room at the end of 1999, I think they moved to London, when IVC did occur after that they only use a CSO backdrop.

I am not sure about TVTS, I think it came from London. Plus I don't they think they own the channel anymore as they seem to care more about promoting Thomas Cook TV.

Doesn't all the technical stuff for Five come from Tottenham Court Road?

Yes. The London Playout Centre (which used to be Pearson TV , now part of the RTL group) is home to five , the Flextech channels, Discovery, Bollywood4U and several other channels (used to be home to Disney before they moved to somewhere in Chiswick)

It's actually in Stephen Street although the bulk of the building borders Tottenham Court Road

They never had any studios in Long Acre, that is Channel 5's HQ.

Oh and the place where five and the others are played out from (LPC - The London Playout Centre) has recently been sold by RTL to Ascent Media

Where do they do the link programmes, milkshake & shake from? As they have very small areas, i always thought that they came from the five HQ. Is the HQ the one that used to have the windows coloured in the 5 stripes?
