My schedule idea for Sky News would involve a lot of changes. Firstly, Charlotte Hawkins would take over The Live Desk. Lukwesa Burak would take her place on Sunrise permanently but maintain a solo presence by continuing to present Sky World News at 5am. Philippa Hall would replace her from midnight to 5am.

Double-headed programmes would return at key points in the day. For instance, Anna Botting would join Dermot on Sky News Today. As such, Steve Dixon and Lorna Dunkley would move to weekdays to present a newly extended Sky News Tonight from 9pm to 12am. At the weekend, Chris Roberts and Samantha Simmonds would be paired for Sky News Today, with Colin Brazier and Paula Middlehurst co-anchoring Sky News Tonight.

Martin Stanford's input would be greatly increased with him providing both news summaries and dot com previews during Afternoon Live, before going onto present the main programme at 7pm and returning at 8pm for an hour of NSW. On Fridays each of these roles would be filled by Matt Smith. The 9pm hour of NSW would be scrapped to make way for an extended Sky News Tonight, as would the weekend afternoon NSW to accommodate a weekend edition of Sky News Today.

Helen Fospero would become one of the main anchors over the weekend, presenting both editions of The Live Desk on Friday, the weekend lunchtime bulletins on Sat and Sun and also Afternoon Live on Monday.

Live at Five, Saturday/Sunday Live and Weekend Sunrise would remain unchanged, as would Jeff Randall Live. On Fridays, a new political programme hosted by Jon Craig focussing on the week's events in Westminster would occupy the 7:30pm timeslot.

This presenter format is similar to what you propose using the double headed format at peak times.

6am-9am Sunrise with Eamonn Holmes and Charollete Hawkins(headlines)

Do we really need to do all these 'fantasy schedules'?

We could be here for weeks posting these things, but at the end of the day, you know nothing will change. It's not exactly a constructive discussion about Sky News is it?

There are no schedule changes planned for the near future and tbh there is no need for them, sure it would be good for Paula to be a bit more involved on the main bulletins but that hardly requires a compete rethink of what the channel has become.

To have a mixture of double and single headed programming is just too messy and within weeks there would be complaints on here of people not being in the correct slot,a double headed show having one presenter etc.

sarah hughes (skys royal correspondant) presenting sky news today, yet gillian joseph ( a more experienced presenter) sidelined to doing news summaries. What is going on with sky news?

Have to say Sky News Today suits Sarah's style very well (compared to her Afternoon Live shift a few months ago)

But yes again, a more experienced presenter who looks to be sidelined

Gilian is now doing The Live Desk. Who did the morning Live Desk?

Im guessing someone might not have been able to come to work at short notice today since the bulletin wench/Live Desk shifts aren't usually combined anymore

Does anybody know why Sky's "a" team are gone again after only coming back from holidays?

Charlotte did the Live Desk at 9:00am as well as Sunrise.

Lost The Remote
Sounds like there was a real presenter shortage this morning for some reason. I guess Colin, Dermot and Mark who normally work Mondays were all off but one of them was a last minute thing.

That would explain why Sarah did SNT instead of Gillian as presumably Sarah was originally down to do The Live Desk, but since the SNT presenter couldn't make it, Charlotte stayed on an extra hour to do The Live Desk and Sarah took SNT instead.

Is it only my BT Vision box, but it has the Afternoon Live desk down as 'Live at One with Colin Brazier'

That was the original name for the programme. Incredibly nobody has bothered to rectify this on the EPG yet despite the fact it was never once used on air.

Even on Friday it is marked the same, when it is normally presented by Chris Roberts, so both the programme name and presenter are wrong.

Was anyone watching Live at Five last night when Jeremy was talking to Jeff Randall and at the bottom of the screen it read...News alert:Jeff Randall live at 7:30. I would hardly call this a news alert considering its scheduled to be on 4 days a week
