My schedule idea for Sky News would involve a lot of changes. Firstly, Charlotte Hawkins would take over The Live Desk. Lukwesa Burak would take her place on Sunrise permanently but maintain a solo presence by continuing to present Sky World News at 5am. Philippa Hall would replace her from midnight to 5am.
Double-headed programmes would return at key points in the day. For instance, Anna Botting would join Dermot on Sky News Today. As such, Steve Dixon and Lorna Dunkley would move to weekdays to present a newly extended Sky News Tonight from 9pm to 12am. At the weekend, Chris Roberts and Samantha Simmonds would be paired for Sky News Today, with Colin Brazier and Paula Middlehurst co-anchoring Sky News Tonight.
Martin Stanford's input would be greatly increased with him providing both news summaries and dot com previews during Afternoon Live, before going onto present the main programme at 7pm and returning at 8pm for an hour of NSW. On Fridays each of these roles would be filled by Matt Smith. The 9pm hour of NSW would be scrapped to make way for an extended Sky News Tonight, as would the weekend afternoon NSW to accommodate a weekend edition of Sky News Today.
Helen Fospero would become one of the main anchors over the weekend, presenting both editions of The Live Desk on Friday, the weekend lunchtime bulletins on Sat and Sun and also Afternoon Live on Monday.
Live at Five, Saturday/Sunday Live and Weekend Sunrise would remain unchanged, as would Jeff Randall Live. On Fridays, a new political programme hosted by Jon Craig focussing on the week's events in Westminster would occupy the 7:30pm timeslot.
