Thought this might be of interest to some on here - as part of the Budget coverage, tonight's edition of Y Sgwrs on S4C came from the Daily Politics/This Week set in London, rather than Broadcasting House in Cardiff. They brought their own graphics with them though, rather than using the red Budget backdrops used on the BBC Two coverage this afternoon.

Y Sgwrs is a weekly news analysis show that follows Newyddion 9 (the nine o'clock news) on Wednesdays.

Do they regularly use this studio if they broadcast from London?

The set doesn't look to complex so they could probably whip it up quickly.

It's a permanently standing set used daily for live programmes.

What set? That desk is the BBC Budget desk, which has been in all week because of the complications with that studio. I.e. it is tiny and the biggest door, to my knowledge, is a regular door.

They've used that studio at least once before yes.

Did they really need to travel to London to broadcast this?

Yes, given that a) all the MPs were in London and had to be interviewed there b) the main news and other coverage came from there as well. It's only two hours up the M4.. it's not like travelling to the moon. On normal weeks they will often have 3 guests in Cardiff + a guest down the line in London and a guest in the Swansea or Bangor studio. If they can get everything done on College Green or another studio where you share resources I'm sure it's a lot simpler.

I agree with you if it is indeed cheaper but Cardiff to London is certainly a longer journey than two hours (by road at least)! It's probably at least double normally!

Yes, it was more a turn of phrase really. A train journey could take two hours if you're lucky but then there's travelling within London (probably just as slow in the Cardiff rush hour to be honest, given the congestion around BBC Llandaf).
