I also notice UTV Live Tonight is taking the customary UTV bank holiday break on Monday and Tuesday, although on Monday its replaced by 'The Twelfth' programme - right up against the BBC programme.

Interestingly, on Monday the 6pm UTV Live is the full-length half-hour, but on Tuesday there's a 'Twelfth' highlights programme (presumably a revised rpt) at 6pm, followed by a bulletin at 6.20pm.

UTV Live Tonight is actually taking a 4 week break, returning in August. The last programme was on Thursday night and Paul announced at the end that they were taking a summer break.

Regarding the UTV Live situation, I think they did this last year too, doing the full half hour programme on the Monday and then taking their holiday on the Tuesday instead. First time I've seen them do an edited repeat of the Twelfth though to fill the gap, I think last year they just showed something stupid like The Planet's Funniest Animals to fill the gap before the news bulletin.

On the subject of summer breaks, The Seven Thirty Show is also taking a break for a few weeks so we're just getting the network programme (Countrywise) in its place for a while.

Apologies - I just looked at Monday and Tuesday and presumed it would be back on Wednesday. Wink

So, apart from UTV Live, UTV aren't bothering to make any TV programmes for the rest of July?

Cock-ups a plenty on yesterday's UTV Live bulletin:

http://u.tv/UTVMediaPlayer/Default.aspx?progid=103238

The titles cocked up, failing to start then held on a video freeze for a few seconds, cutting through a shot of what may be the vacant continuity desk into Rose mid-sentence - and then the sound finally gets sorted out at 3.25. Not even a hint of an apology.

And are they sticking that uPlayer trail in every news bulletin?

BBC One's Newsline wasn't too slick yesterday either. David Maxwell reading through his script painfully slowly in parts, seemingly never quite sure what was going to happen next. He apologised for the "technical problems" at the end of the bulletin.

Yes I noticed that online but the strange thing is, it didn't go out on TV like that! I watched the bulletin yesterday and it started off fine, the titles played out normally, Rose said welcome to UTV Live, Aston appeared with her name, into first report etc. with no problems at all.

What would cause that to happen on the online version? I thought they were just a recorded version of what went out on TV? Confused

Ah... I thought it was a relay of the programme as TXd myself as well - then again, they have to edit out stuff like most of the sports reports, the commercial break - I guess they had software issues when preparing the bulletin for online which weren't apparent until it was available online.

Don't think I've seen this affect either BBC NI or UTV bulletins in online format only.

After a year of no updates to the site I've finally got round to updating it with new material and a new look. Not much new at the moment and a few pages will be mis-matched between old and new look until everything ready.

However new so far ...

The Twelfth 2009 - http://www.freewebs.com/bbcnitoday/thetwelfth_2009.html
The Politics Show - http://www.freewebs.com/bbcnitoday/thepoliticsshow.html

Enjoy, and hope to have more uploaded within the next few days

The clip with Alison is pre-recorded but Lynda humming is happening live, they obviously cut live to the studio by mistake instead of playing the coming up sequence.
