Interesting Chesterfield Royal Hospital (S44 5BL) - under 2km from the crooked spire featured in the opening titles to Look North Leeds is mapped to BBC East Midlands.

Tideswell - SK17 8** assigned to BBC NW/Granada - despite local Tideswell Moor TX famously highest relay of Emley Moor.

Here's the other border:

Monsal Head itself is DE45 and BBC E Mids/Central E. Those houses down the hill (and the viaduct itself) is SK17 and BBC N West/Granada.

When did they launch that set? I'd have thought it'd be due a full revamp, as opposed to just a new sofa.

They moved to Salford in November 2011.

Laughing A full revamp of everything all at once?! Shocked When hell freezes over, maybe...

I'm sure that we're doomed to only ever having one thing change at a time, until *eventually* all elements of the original Salford set are gone and we'll have a totally "new" set (different elements of which will be older/newer than others, obv).

First the Breakfast & NWT "window" backgrounds changed, and now the sofa has been replaced (but is seemingly identical to its predecessor, so isn't exactly a "change" as such). The rostrum, desk, flooring, and set walls will probably each be changed at utterly separate points in time.

Even if/when they replace the set walls, the current faux backdrops will probably be carried over to the new "windows" (as they *couldn't possibly* change both things at once... Rolling Eyes ).

Looking back at those pictures of the set without the lighting, you realise what a difference it makes.

However, it also begs the question as to why they chose to convert that particular area from office space to a studio.

They had a whole building, yet picked somewhere with a very odd shape. I believe they originally planned to have NWT on the ground floor, with a real background view (as ITV decided on in their building), but I wonder what exotic substance was being used in the BBC meeting that decided the eventual location of NWT/Breakfast. Shocked

I recall an anecdote saying when executives were shown around the building, some youths pulled faces through the windows that were supposed to be the studio. Not sure how true that is.

I suspect once Breakfast was confirmed and they say the Daybreak dark disaster, they rightly realised a real view wasn’t sensible.
