Been back in the Borders over the summer and seeing a bit of Lookaround again, weird seeing 1 or 2 ex-reporters back from pre-merger days like Andy Burn!! the Last 15 mins have seemed to drop in quality of late.

As much as I am not a fan of further cuts, Something tells me the new proposed 17 regions again for at least 20 mins could be a good idea.

Andy Burn, the Geordie fellow? Now there's a blast from the past -- Burn worked at Tyne Tees for several years in the late 80s/early 90s...

I would agree about the 'cuts' -- it'll be an upgrade for this part of the world!

EDIT: Yup, same bloke. He seems to have toned his accent down though -- he used to be second only to Alister Harrison in terms of strong local accents on the telly. What happened to him over all these years?

Is the 18:15 split no longer fixed via Ofcom? The opts finished at 18:12 this evening.

Isn't the requirement just a set amount of time per year, allowing for day-to-day variations?

Also, isn't Tuesday one of the usual days of the week when the local news tends to be shortened to 27 minutes to fit in an extra ad break before the ITV Evening News - hence a shorter opt-out?

So... tomorrow the northeast becomes the final English region to start its digital switchover.

R.I.P. analogue BBC Two in England.

I don't know the answer to that, but I know it's common in other regions for reporters to be seconded to another Region or the national news.

Shame as I like Peter Grant, remember him as breakfast presenter on TFM a few years ago.

Confirmed, Lisa Gallagher and Kay Crewdson will share the shifts. They're also presenting the weekend forecasts and sharing lunchtime with Hannah or Paul. Main and late are with Hannah or Paul as now.
