Well done, Diana screwed us up and made us so emotional over things we have no connection to we're now doing prohibition.

So true. What was a "book of condolence" before Diana died? Did we hold a minimum of a minute's silence for anything other than Remembrance day before then? We did not. All these things are the norm now, but they have more to do with us wanting to feel good about ourselves rather than express empathy for Diana, the McCanns or whoever.

But it was Diana that undoubtedly "popularised" them - ever since they seem to have been used for every tragedy, murder etc - Soham, Rhys Jones etc.

Again, a relatively infrequent occurrance and not done automatically in other situations such as those described above. There was a concerted and sustained campaign to get the two-minute silence back in vogue for the 1995 VE Day commemorations, but since then it seems to have been a standard reaction to any kind of tragedy.

Getting back to Madeleine, a very telling comment on Sky News just now, "we know you want to know more about this story so we'll bring you more news just as soon as we can." Rolling Eyes

Still to much, as far as I am concerned... there have been NO developments in the last 3 or 4 days, no need to show it what so ever

I only want to hear about this again if..
Arrow Maddie is found dead or alive
Arrow There is official conclusive evidence to charge a suspect

I'm not interested in leaked tittle tattle to make a story.

It was refreshing to watch the news without seeing the McCann family. I haven't forgotten she's missing and i'll never forget her face and if i ever see her on any travels across Europe i may take i'll approach the relevant authorities.

Push for Madeleine ad publicity

The family of missing four-year-old Madeleine McCann is to launch another advertising campaign to publicise her disappearance in May.

Up to £80,000 from donations to the Madeleine Fund will be used for newspaper, television and billboard adverts, beginning in a fortnight.

The girl's parents Gerry and Kate have been named as formal suspects by Portuguese police.

The campaign would focus on Spain, Portugal and other European sites.

'Still missing'

Fund director John McCann, Gerry's brother, thanked people for their support.

"The main objective of the Madeleine fund is to leave no stone unturned in the search for Madeleine.

"To that end, I would like to announce that the fund will finance a broad range of initiatives in advertising to remind everyone that Madeleine is still missing," he said.

Previous campaigns involved an enormous billboard, leaflets and videos.

The family earlier announced that donations to the fund would not be used for Mr and Mrs McCann's legal costs.

Madeleine, who was three at the time she disappeared, was reported missing from the McCanns' apartment in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve, on 3 May.
