I think News at Ten's coverage of the cabinet reshuffle was great and very quick - it was the top story - apparently Sky was very quick as well at the time.
Same can't be said for the BBC who took their time to get on to it.
ITV must be commended for this quick response - Tom Bradby was great too.
I agree, BUT ITV News at Ten (dont really want to start a debate here) didn't start at 10pm tonight so perhaps gave them the few extra seconds or about 1min to 'shuffle' (pun intended) the running order.

Interview with Justin Welby and Julie's about assisted dying made it a top notch program tonight.

I was watching online so I assumed it was on time and my phone wasn't.
It was noticeably a great program tonight. All important stories covered in as much detail as possible and some great reports. Bradby was on top form.
Notice the News at Ten and regional news is now scheduled through to 10.40pm rather than 10.35pm - guess they might be making up for some of the lost time from the World Cup slowly but surely, though don't know if the regional bulletins themselves are any longer.
The BBC bulletins still end at 10.35pm, but once the Commonwealth Games begin the regions get an extra 5 minutes, possibly specifically for CG coverage.

That's correct. Tonight's regions were 11 minutes long to make up the lost time from the lack of 30 min 6pm bulletins.

Obviously they must be obliged to meet the quota. But I do think BBC News managed to get near enough a hour of national and regional news in most nights. They definitely had more than 5 Mins summaries itv were offering.
Doing a longer late bulletin just allows them to use reports and packages from the 6pm programme anyways so that's a clever way to make up quota.
I'm surprised they have to make up the quota, thought ITV would have got away with showing much Regional News through a special circumstances (Fifa World Cup 2014) clause or something.
I guess the post NAT Regional slot was reduced due to now being Sub-Regional (obviously not for all regions such as Granada). Not that I don't agree with Brekkie, as many people including myself tend to watch the later bulletin more than the 6pm programme due to work commitments.
