Nope. News At One and News At Ten came from Studio 1 at Rediffusion House in that era, whilst the News at 5.45 came from Studio 2. Studio 2 was also used for Police 5 with Shaw Taylor.


By the time James is talking about, ITN had moved to ITN House in Wells Street. I believe they moved there in 1969 and moved to their current home on Gray's Inn Road in 1990/1991.

Did they go straight into colour at Wells St? (I guess that was the point the more familiar ITN logo started?)

ITN moved to Gray's Inn Road in 1990. For a while, programmes were broadcast from two different buildings while the changeover was completed. (Source - ITN 50 Years book)

Aha, thanks for the info Rob. I wonder if any differences could be noticed on air at the time? I imagine moving a news organisation with several daily broadcasts from one building to another would be quite a complex task. I guess they were helped by the fact that in 1990 all of the ITN news programmes came from a "proper" enclosed studio (as opposed to an open plan newsroom type set) and/or CSO set-up.
