Emma is NOT using a CSO!! Brilliant, shes standing like Matt did, can someone explain the set, was the OKTV! sofa further around the studio or something
Emma's delivery isn't exactly 5'esque. Like GMTV she's just a bit too formal in her delivery.
She's clearly great on a rolling news channel, but hosting a terrestrial bulletin isn't her forte.
I haven't seen 5 News (at 7) as I'm away from my television, but I suspected this would be the case. I think she'd be very good on a national BBC or ITV bulletin, but my feeling is Five News is too GMTV in its feel for her. Similarly, I can't imagine Matt Barbet ever hosting a national BBC or ITV broadcast.

I don't often watch Channel 5 News but I think Emma is doing a great job. It actually feels like a news programme with Emma at the helm. GMTV was different because it was more than just news and had a co presenter. I quite like the new look but it does seem a bit awkard when stood up for half an hour, and the interview stood up didn't work either.
I do think ITV have missed out by not giving Emma the Lunchtime News and giving it to Daisy McAndrew instead (although she hasn't actually started yet and was supposed to have started weeks ago ). There isn't really a place for her at the BBC.

I think Emma good for a news bulletin, It would have been better if they had altered the format of this bulletin to suit her more perhaps less entertainment, you have that mix at 5, then OKTV! full blow of showbiz etc then maybe it should be a more formal at 7.
It just seems like a Matt v Emma on who presents better as the running order & stories are the same as far as I can see.
I agree too. Think I might stop watching... I'm 17, and since 2008, I've always watched Five News because of it's laid back style, and how they include 'lighter' side stories.
But it does feel a bit like a gameshow now - the music, the laptop stand bit, the studio, and how there is a large "5" in the logo.
The red, blue and white colour scheme makes it feel a bit Sky Newsy too...

When at the BBC, I'm sure Matt Barbet was on BBC Breakfast a few times...
