There is also a networked BBC local radio special which most stations except the East and London are taking. Looks to be a return of the arrangements for the now discontinued evening national programme, hosted by Andrew Edwards from Radio Leeds.

Didn’t realise BBC local radio had gone back to doing its own thing. I know Mark Forrest had left to go to Scala, though. When did it finish? I thought it was a cost-saving exercise. Was it a reaction to the loss of local programming in the commercial sector?

I don’t think it’s been mentioned but there are two BBC News programmes covering the results tonight.

BBC 1 / News Channel special presented by Huw Edwards from Studio B in NBH.

BBC World News special presented by Ros Atkins from the European Parliament in Brussels. I believe there will be some news inserts from NBH.

The radio coverage is one programme co-presented by Chris Mason in NBH and Adam Fleming in Brussels (right next to Ros at the European Parliament). Different networks will take it at different times- 5 Live (10pm - 3am), Radio 4 (11pm - 3am), World Service (Midnight - 1am). As it’s on 5 Live it’ll go out on BBC local radio stations once they close down for the night.

Most of the live reports and guests for the ‘domestic’ special will come from a position inside the European Parliament chamber (the Hemicycle). That may also get used for the BBC World News programme and the radio special as well.

Where are the graphics been generated from for the World News Special? the font kerning looks different from the norm.

Seems like studio B. During some editions of Victoria Derbyshire I've seen the font of the ticker being as "weird" as this time's election coverage. Perhaps it's a bug they have over-sighted while carrying out gallery maintenance?

They aren’t being generated / keyed from Brussels - that’s as far as I can confirm! I *think* the domestic special is in B.

I think BBC World News was supposed simulcast the special in the UK. The announcer said Huw Edwards would lead coverage then you see Ros Atkins. Plus, the schedule online mentioned Huw Edwards yesterday.

Don't World News usually avoid taking the intro and then join a few minutes in? The intro Huw Edwards did about this being 'the election that was never supposed to happen' was very UK-centric so it seems like the kind of thing where someone else sets the scene on WN and then they opt in to the main programme?

Have a look at the BBC Scotland channel if you want some Reith action Smile

BBC Scotland Election special using an altered version of The Nine branding, however are stuck with BBC News graphics, just with all text in Reith Serif.

The backdrop in Studio B is an improvement on the awful newsroom background used for the local elections. However, the screens in B look really quite dated up close.

The graphics on the touchscreen are nice and clean, but it’s a shame they seem to be rushing through them.

Sky News are a bit late aren’t they - still haven’t announced the confirmed NE result
