East Midlands Today studio is 'out of action' and showing Midlands Today here in the region. Technical problems or keeping numbers down due to Covid restrictions? I don't even remember this happening in the first lockdown.
No reason why they couldn't travel to Preston as the guidelines permit travel for work purposes, so this would be an internal decision unless there are reasons they can't be accommodated at Preston (not enough space in the commentary positions perhaps).

It's a decision by BBC Local Radio management, apparently. Some stations are taking a commentary from the home team's station, others are doing off tube, some are using local freelancers.

THREAD: Our #ncfc coverage on @BBCNorfolk is going to have to change for a bit.
While Norfolk is in Tier 4 we won’t be traveling to away games. This is BBC policy across Local Radio.
You will still get full commentary of every single Canaries game on the radio.
I wonder if they could have just pre-recorded an EMT bulletin with the Midlands Today team in Birmingham?
They could have done, but I don't think such a thing is kosher at the Beeb, (despite the incredibly low turnover of stories over the day on regional bulletins)
