Have the BBC Weather centre created a new opening and ending graphic. I have seen Laura Tobin present two forecasts today (one being the early morning forecast) both started and ended with a dark blue (moon type colouring) for the opening and closing graphic.

Is this new?

These 'crystal ball' styled weather indicators have proved to be a very nice element of presentation; the best thing about the current graphics IMO - as by contrast, I've never quite taken to the existing weather map...

I like how BBC News 24 use different versions, unlike BBC World who just use one and quite frankly its boring!

BBC World once used this though!

Does the early hours/ overnight presenter record bullitens for the following morning too at weekends? On Friday night (from 11 onwards) Laura Tobin was there, yet was still there at 10 the next morning and was back last night again!

I think it was a mistake that Laura's overnight forecast was played out at mid-morning.
IIRC the weather presenter from Breakfast (Liam Dutton this weekend) does up to 10/10:30am, with the next presenter presenting between 11 until about 4pm I think.

I think your right the breakfast presenter on a Saturday does till 10 on BBC News 24, and then presents a forecast on Radio 1. On a Sunday I believe the BBC News 24 presenter then presents the forecast on The Andrew Marr Show (so they smarten up again) I don't know if they present any further.

BBC World can't use specific weather condition balls, as they provide worldwide weather updates, and so not one specific region can be used to display weather. By contrast, News 24 covers the UK, and as such if the whole of the UK is going to see storms or snow, or rain, the ball reflects that.

I personally think thats a silly excuse. Because cloudy blue sky's is a condition and sure isn't the condition around the world for everyone at the same time.

That's their default, the alternative is to use a different identity, which would not match the UK or online site's

Each ball and background is part of the BBC Weather brand, why should BBC World limit the weather brand to just one boring ball?!

Why randomise it when it bares no relation to the current weather.
