Already mentioned in the hurricane thread in the main room, but thought I should mention it here as a couple of people have thanked me for bringing it to their attention.
From Tv Ark, the famous Lighthouse titles from 1999.
Ah, a title sequence I never tire of watching. Amazing that although they are now over 5 years old, they still blow pretty much all UK news titles out of the water.
Forcible replacing them after only 18 months with a stupid rotating map and a particularly bad remix of the corporate news theme tune is one of the worst things ever to happen to Spotlight.
A little known fact is that the opening 'lighthouse light' animation survived until 2003 (as did the 1999 lowercase Spotlight logo) on Spotlight on Westminster, when the regional politics programmes were nationalised too.
I find it funny how they kept the Spotlight name but made the graphics generic. It sort of makes you wonder why they use the name Spotlight anymore, because it dosen't really mean anything without the lighthouse in the sequence.

For most of its history the programme has had no visual reference in its titles to a spotlight. It's quite simply a (more imaginative than most, admittedly) name for the regional programme.
Indeed, IIRC there was another local news programme called Spotlight at some point.
The 1999 sequence is great, but I also really liked the one before that (which isn't on TV ARK) - it had the music and lighthouse from 1992 but with the scenery from the 1999 one. I prefer the faster music
