Yes he did a recent weekend shift, 2 weeks ago I think, but I don't remember ever seeing him before. Was he with BBC in the past before this current freelancing?

He has been with the BBC in the past, when he was a Newsround reporter/presenter between 1994 and 1999. But I can't imagine him presenting BBC World at the age of 19. BBC WORLD pointed out in the post above he was a presenter in the early to mid 2000s, when he was at Sky News, maybe he freelanced between Sky and the BBC then.

I honestly have no recollection of Chris Rogers having presented on BBC World in the early-mid 2000s. I watched World religiously back then, too. What's more, he was with ITN at that time.

I thought Chris Rogers had come from News 24 Newsround programming?

Is that Luisa Baldini presenting on the news channel now? Long time since she was last on if so.

Nice to see her back, she's not a bad presenter.

And Sian is back on the main bulletins after nearly 2 years! Hopefully a permanent thing after the Salford move.

For those wondering whether Huw Edwards could manage to present four whole consecutive editions of his programme 'BBC News at Five' on the News Channel in one given week, and after a 2 month absence, well guess what. He hasn't. Ben Brown covering this evening.

shock

Sophie Raworth doing the Ten as well, as she said at the end of the Six.

Huw enjoys having time off, doesn't he?!

OK, fair enough. I know he does a lot of work presenting and contributing to things outside of news, which is a good thing, my point is he seems to be spending less and less time presenting the news just lately, especially on the Five!

Your right, Huw does seem to be spending less and less time presenting the news lately - rarely managing a whole week. With the Olympic next year, I wouldn't be surprise if he spents more time off preparing for the opening and closing ceremonies.

With nearly nine years at the Ten, I wonder how many more years he would want to continue presenting news bulletins.

Well his tenure has been even longer than that if you take into account his time on the Six O'Clock News. He did present the national news occasionally during the 1990s but he became one of the main faces in 1999. So, all in all he's done 12 years on the national news. Personally, I think his lack of news appearances recently has something to do with David Dimbleby's reduced role at major state events. I think we can expect to see less of Huw on the news in the coming years as he takes on programmes that would traditionally have fallen within Dimbleby's remit.

I think any doubts I had about Adam Parsons reading the news have pretty much been cleared. Watching him on the BBC News Channel this evening, and it's obvious how much he's improved over the last few months. Not quite to the same standard as Walter Cronkite yet, I grant you, but he is considerably much better and more relaxed than when he first became a relief presenter in his first stint on BBC News 24 back in 2006/07.

I like his style, rigorous but not too melodramatic and asks good questions in interviews. Voice is still a bit on the dull side and can still be slightly awkward at times but I believe he could become a real asset to the BBC News Channel and even BBC World News in months and possibly years to come.
