I think this image demonstrates how the studio looked without all the virtual technology making it look bigger than it actually was.
Yes - I think that is the full real-width of the desk and the foreground element was real. (The backing for the presenter shot was a cheat though ISTR. Rather than use a multi-coloured real element (which would have been a meaningly small bit of the UK map), they shot the main presenter against a predominantly blue area, and CSOed in a full UK map backing, including the inset, so that the maps lined up properly?)
Since Newsnight was done differntly with a Sofa on Friday night, should I bother setting my tape in the morning in the hope that Breakfast is re-launching or would I be wasting my time?
I notice the name astons have been tweeked again, this time removing the transparent black strip underneath them. However the headline astons do still bear them.

was going to say. I saw the 1 this lunchtime, full moon an all and wondered if this was a situation... but they appear to have changed them - bring on the 10
Seems to have been a change to the LIVE/Location aston on the 'nationals' - though I don't usually see the One so it may not be new.
The whole thing seems much higher up the screen, with the LIVE almost touching the top. Also, when it's a recorded report, there's a thin red line on top of the location box, rather than the usual empty red box.

Apparently, the graphics on BBC World will be coming to BBC One, don't know if anybody's seen it but they have such things as Breaking News, Sport and Business all with the globe. There has also been the possibility within BBC NCA circles of introducing a 20 second countdown, just the News 24 one but cut to that. This would replace much of the trailers we generally see after Neighbours but will include the continutiy announcer still announcing the programme before the countdown cuts in. The set is still to be finalised, but designs have included a copy of the News 24 one, but with some variations. As has been discussed before, there will be an area for the Breakfast programme to be presented from, which will also be used for Newswatch and HARDtalk, which as you know are currently broadcast from there. The main newsdesk is proposed to be the same as that of News 24 from which Breakfast News headlines will be read and where Newswatch and HARDtalk interviews are conducted. The use of a CSO background will more than likely remain, to allow for the different backgrounds as used on all programmes there.
To summarise:
The National news, HARDtalk, Newstwach and Breakfast will all use the same set.
The newsdesk will be the same as that of News 24.
An informally styled area will be used for Breakfast in much the same way as the current look.
Some extra titles could arrive for the National bulletins, including BBC World's sport graphic with the globe and a greater studio pan shot at the middle of the programme.
The presenter reshuffle will be announced over time, since Anna Ford's retirement has also been announced, followed by that of Sophie Raworth to front to 1 'Clock news. George Alagiah will become a presenter on Newsnight focusing on the more international stories, in the same vein as John Simpson for the main news.
Mike Embley is tipped to return to BBC 0ne to replace Alagiah as male anchor of the Six 0'Clock with Jane Hill joining him.
0n the Ten 'Clock, Huw Edwards and Fiona Bruce will remain, with Jane Hill as replacement in case of absences.
Back with the 0ne 0'Clock bulletin; Darren Jordan will continue as second presenter whilst the weekend bulletins will be presented by Chris Eakin and Moira Stuart.
0n Breakfast, the original set up will continue, with Dermot Murnaghan and Natasha Kaplinsky as main presenters. Kate Silverton will be returning to News 24 in her current time slot whilst Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams will stay as replacement presenters.
ther than that, no presenter changes on News 24 have been noted.
