General day-to-day goings on the 1, 6 and 10 o'clock news (April 2005)

Correct me if I am wrong but I think I remeber hearing May as the time for the relaunch...wouldnt suprise me to be honest. If the studio is going to be as differnt and fanstaic as it seems to be it will take some time to design and try out slight alterations ect..
I though am current sick of the BBC News presentation, I find myself watching Sunrise on SKY and News at 10:30 on ITV rather then the BBC...shame really I do love the BBC but i cant stand looking at it these days


So, when the new set comes, you'll start watching again? You watch the news for content, not pres. Oh, but hold on this is TVF. Rolling Eyes

Not preciesly
For example, I would rather eat something well presented on a plate rather than throwing something on a plate even if its the same thing

I would rather watch the news, be informed and not have to be putting up with really bad presentation. Its one reason why I watch Sky more these days...it looks better to look at so then the news is more attractive to look at

There's going to be a bit of shuffling around, with programmes moving to TC11 (which has been pretty much dormant since BBC Three News finished and 60 Seconds moved out) while their own studio gets a new set.

I doubt Breakfast would need to move - it's not like the new set's being constructed in their existing studio. Presumably all they'll have to do is move studios when the new one's ready. Agreed though, the national will be more interesting. Can anyone remember where they decamped to when they were building the current set? I vaguely remember a couple of weekend bulletins in the newsroom. Did they also use N24, World or CSO at all?

I remember when N24 was having its revamp it changed studios and was presented in front of a CSO screen - perhaps the same will happen with the nationals this time.

The current set only took two days to build and during this time they presented the bulletin in front of a blue screen. The News 24 backing was used at the time of the BBC Bomb.

During the 2001 and 2003 set changes, the national news was done as a CSO, but it looked very convincing. They even had aerial shots. The TV Room has some images. Have a look at this page.

It was an extremly good job done at that time...I do remeber seeing half of Peter Sisson's head being cut out becouse of the CSO!
Is there any word on dates of when this might happen though?

I notice the main Newsnight programme was presented by Kirsty Wark on the red Breakfast sofa where the desk usually is. And Review is with Martha Kearney on the purple Newsnight sofa.

Its hard to think Moira's newsdesk is big enough fill the empty space.
It's worse than the studio for Look North Hull!

Looking back at the TV Room pics of the old pre-93 news sets, when the 1,6 and 9 had their own look, did all these sets have to be taken down for the next programme's set to be rebuilt, or did they all exist in different studios? Was the 9 background the real newsroom?

Also, I presume all these, and the 93-99 corporate sets, were all in the old bit of TVC, unlike N6 today.
