Old mock - BBC design

Whilst searching through my computer I found this old idea of linking BBC trailers with a flowing system having all start and end with a white screen.

This mock started back in 2017 and was updated during 2018. It uses new designs that I created for BBC 1 and BBC 4 logos and utilised the old ‘2’ symbol. The idea stemmed from the introduction of the BBC 3 exclamation logo (that now has been amended to a worded logo), trying to give an identity for each channel through the numeral symbol similar to the BBC’s Radio family of services whilst keeping consistency with surrounding elements.

Before posting I have updated the font to Reith to bring it up to date.

Brilliant. It really frustrates me that the BBC can’t do something this simple.

I love the idea of the cross-channel promo, unlike most, it actually lets you see them all at once. I can definitely see this on TV. The white screen transition is a lovely way to link the promos and is similar to many German channels.

A little bored this afternoon I decided to utilise the logo that I made for BBC1 and come up with an ident and jingle for the current lockdown situation.



The idents would start with a white frame to link in with the end of the trailers as featured on the previous video posted.

The jingle feels a bit off key at points (mainly towards the end) but overall nice work!

Our national broadcaster would never resort to using an ident which is just somebody making a cup of tea.

The white screen stays on screen too long before it moves to show the programme info, I would speed that up. But apart from that, it's a very nice design and the cross channel promo works great as well. Not too sure about the 1 for the BBC 1 logo, but that can be fine tuned. Nice work.

I’m by no means a musician but am a fan of a
Sonic logo in an ident, but I agree when listening back to it. I’ve had a go at a new version and changed the clips a bit with a two for one approach showing colours behind the logo.

Thank you for the feedback. I designed the ‘1’ used after experiments with fonts and graphical elements like dots and worded motifs, I even attempted using the old 90s numeral but that didn’t sit well.
Coming up with mine I added the point at the top to take away from the rectangular shape and blockiness, then to make the whole numeral less straight edged I added the circular peak.

I know what you mean about the white screen, I remember that was the shortest I could create at the time as I compiled everything in iMovie.

The wipes in the first video are very sky news but I like it and be honest the second one was just an excuse to show off the fancy mug

overall its a good effort and id like to see some other ident ideas. I like the music and they are mostly social distancing except for the very start
