Good Morning Britain Studio

A good layout which could work for Good Morning Britain (April 2014)

Hello

This is my mock of the Good Morning Britain studio. It is pretty packed but could work well in the studio. I used the correct studio measurements (I believe) and have tried my hardest to make it look good.

I hope you like my mock, please give helpful feedback!

Note: The ITV logo's are screens.

Well, I'm not sure what everything is to begin with. Are the breakbumper caps supposed to represent screens?
If so, what is going to be displayed on them?
The news area looks odd with both 'News' on the desk and above the screen, I would either have one 'News' or the other, preferbly the one on the top with a different font.
As for the weather area, plain black all around the screen is a bad choice in my opinion, especially if the presenter is wearing black.
Just one final note- the backdrop looks awkward in the corner of the sofas.

The ITV logo's are the screens, and displayed on them would be graphics. For example at the sofa screen they might display the logo while on air then play a VT or something.
I do agree having two 'News' logo's are a little odd but I think it will be better having the desk one.
For the weather area the camera wouldn't show the black areas, my bad on where I took the picture.
Do you mean the red part of the backdrop? How does it look awkward?

I'm not going to lie. I've done a fair few set designs in my time (although they were beyond so I didn't post them). However, and this is a plea to all new mockers there, PLEASE CAN WE STOP DESIGNING SETS AROUND THE GMTV DESIGN. Yes, the studio (Studio 5) is small, but there's so much that can be done with it.

I don't know if this is directed at my mock but this wasn't designed around the GMTV design. Its nothing like it

Well, for a start its not very warm and welcoming is it? Are you forgetting that there are 4 presenters of the show, where will they all go? (presuming they will all present together) Where do they get in and out of the studio? The performance area's a bit small too.

I think first of all, you need to rethink the whole layout of this. The news area needs to be made a bit smaller, and I think it would be better standing up IMO. I would have a video wall for the standing up news, and the weather. There you would have saved some space. The 'main area' needs to be a bit brighter aswell.

EDIT: Is that wall where the weather/green screen is supposed to be 'moveable' if so, then the problem of getting in/out the studio is obviously non-existent.

Firstly thanks for the feedback!

I doubt that 4 presenters will be presenting at the same time, and I did miss out a few details like the exit. The black wall next to the performance area is actually where the exit is, and I agree the performance area is a little small.

Thanks for all your suggestions I have taken them all on board!

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know how high a set would go in studio 5, (i.e up 2.5 metres or whatever!) Cheers

Why not try the requests section?

Okay, so you're set max would be about 3.5 metres to clear the grid, which sits at four metres. Make sure you check out the link posted on the request areas of the forum! Very Happy
