Here is my mock for Weekend . If Weekend was to follow the same branding as GMB (I know it probably won't), here is my mock, based on the branding for my GMB mock.

It is like the original GMB mock but with a few tweaks and a different colour scheme.

I've been following this mock for a while now, and I think it is very professional. Like how you've done it in the style of ITV News, yet not copied it, and yes, I think you should continue the Weekend graphics. One thing I don't like is the straps, I would make the text a tad bigger.
