Have been bored waiting for a delivery all morning so decided to do my first mock in absolutely ages (I'm talking years)

I was just thinking EastEnders could do with a bit of freshening up, but there's only so much you can do with the iconic opener without annoying too many people.

It's essentially the titles reversed and when the title card appears (wiping on once again as opposed to the awful fade/drop shadow we have now) the scene fades in beneath it, with a shot filmed purposefully for the title. It's a bit Crossroads I guess.

I also did away with the ridiculous "Eastenders BBC" which I've never understood, and placed the new BBC logo at the start of the titles as with other programmes.

Oh, and I made the sea a bit more green again, that blue in the current titles it a bit too jarring for me.

I had to edit the theme down too, as well as taking the doofs out but the opening theme hasn't always had these anyway.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

This would be nice if EastEnders was shown on a commercial channel as was coming back from the break. As the main title sequence, I don't think it would suit it.

Yes it does kinda look like EastEnders on a commercial network I guess.

Here's another go. I edited a variation of the theme tune. I prefer the EastEnders typeface how it appears at the end of this.

I'm not a fan of them at all.

Why is the camera hurtling towards the river in the first one?

And the second one the text effects and crap variation of the music make it seem very tacky.

That said, a few adjustments and I reckon it can be pulled of well but you've not quite achieved that yet.

The first kind of worked in reverse. The second looks awful IMO (the scrolling text especially) and the music is a bit of a shocker, but I kind of like that, especially the "duff duffs" - but would cut the extra bar at the end. Also why are you using the BBC Worldwide logo - as nice as it is it's unlikely they'd ever use anything other than the three boxes.

Definitely worth playing with though and seeing where it ends up. I do like it when EE play with the titles and themetune as generally they come out with something much better than the spot the difference tweaks they make to the main titles. Love these EE Revealed titles for example:

The scrolling text didn't really work as well as I'd hoped. The effect was meant to be that the map was magnified through the text, rather than just a semi transparent logo scrolling across.

I'm sure I've seen the introduction of the new BBC Worldwide logo being used for programme intros, but I might be mistaken. I like how it kinda sparks with the doofs, as if they're fireworks.

I am going to try a third attempt!
