Looking very good. I'm being a bit pedantic, but didn't they spend more time with the chairs and tv at the back in front of the back door patio doors during the final look?

When they re-painted the living room in 2001 they started out with the chairs in front of the french windows at the front, then sometime in June 2001 they moved the chairs and tv to the french windows at the back of the house.

While doing the artwork on the walls i noticed that in typical BB style that they added, changed and removed some of the breakfasty paintwork items quite a lot while watching the episodes i have on tape.

I also noticed that the phone room also shrunk in size at some point as well.

After finally finding out how to make a 'fold' effect in Gimp, i decided to give the final set of living room curtains a go.

The lighting position doesn't to the image justice here but you get the idea of the effect i was trying to get at:

I couldn't find a similar sunburst mural that the BB had on their back wall on Google so after spending a couple of hours in Gimp i came up with this:

That's fun. Smile The England flags are horribly stretched though.

It's just because i haven't altered the width and height from the previous curtain design. I'll adjust it when I get back indoors. I agree it does look a little tight.

The random mural that was painted in the kitchen during the summer of 2001:

The sunburst by the front door i did myself in Gimp. It's not the actual image but a similar image i found.

Very nicely done. Obviously the old Planet 24 building is gone now so that is the biggest obstacle to a relaunch - though of course back in 1992 they started out without it. With the extra attic space they could probably produce the show - more green rooms for the guests etc. which might be the problem.

I tried to build some sort of production facility in the attic but it is really that small! I was able to fit in it a small office for production and three decent size dressing rooms but not enough room for technical production.

The space behind the house today is still empty with nothing occupying it from the Olympic Park so could a production company rent it from the Olympic Park and put a few porter cabin's on it?

It would be feasible to have production facilities in the left end of the building and attic, and only use the boudoir, bathroom, living room, kitchen and hall along with the space by the balcony upstairs.

The left end of the house could make a pretty decent self contained production facility as all floors are connected by stairs, even the attic. Might just need to squeeze in a catering van outside somewhere, and there's no real need for a phone room these days.

Planet 24 had very lavish taste and the facility behind the house never needed to be that excessive. With modern technology as it is, the space needed would be even less.

It is probably fair to say they struggled to fill the space post-1996 - indeed I think when Johnny arrived the left side downstairs wasn't used on screen (the phone room disappeared for a couple of years), while the competitions done upstairs could easily be on the balcony above the kitchen instead - or the middle part used for them and the bed being put in that space as a rather open plan "boudoir".

Are the original plans of the 1992 BB house up anywhere. I know the landing (used for comps) and bathroom were above the kitchen, then the boudoir was in the middle (but not the full length of the house), with the Box Room on the other side. Guess everything else was production.

They've also got an outbuilding at the front which I guess was never used for much more than storage. Looking on Google Maps too they could easily build a space with much the same floorspace as the main house on the RHS of the back garden and still have a fairly large back garden with a smaller pool.

Is a plan of the house in The Big Breakfast Bowl book?

Well it would depend on what structural changes they'd want to make to the house...

The left hand side is now totally sealed off as a separate house (with access to the attic) and the living room is now much smaller and looks more like a spare room, with the new living room being in the old hallway, open plan to the kitchen which is in the same place as before, with a fire place where the stairs used to be. The upstairs is completely sealed off to the former hallway now, with a new staircase in a small room in what used to be the back of the living room.

Here's a crude plan of the ground floor as it is today:

From memory upstairs there is a large bedroom in an L shape which follows the shape of the landing which used to overlook the hallway.
