Hi,

This time I'm trying for a BBC News mock rather than a Good Morning Britain (some of you have seen my previous BBC News attempts, one or two that haven't gone down well). The reason why I said Recreation/Mock in the title is because it looks like the current set of graphics, but I also made it different. I also took inspiration from BBC LDN's mock from a few years ago and from HarryBNF's and mdtauk's mocks

and taking advice from my last Good Morning Britain mock, I'm uploading in images then I'll upload the animation

These are all I have for now, but I will upload more in the coming hours, and sorry if the images/text appear a bit blurry. I know it's not much, but if possible, reasonable constructive criticism is welcome

The concept of spacing of the text inside the box graphic is completely thrown out the window here.

So if un-tighten (?) the text then that will be better

A bit poor I'm afraid. You got the basics almost right, but the font looks weak.

Ok, I'll 'un-tighten' the font, is there anything else I can do with the font

The font looks like Gotham.

It's neither a re-creation (because it doesn't resemble anything seen on screen) nor a mock (because it doesn't bring anything new or different to the table).

In other words, it's a waste of pixels.

Yes it is

It's neither a re-creation (because it doesn't resemble anything seen on screen) nor a mock (because it doesn't bring anything new or different to the table).

In other words, it's a waste of pixels.

If that's your view, then I'm fine with that.

But you say it's not a recreation because it's different, yet you say it's not different

"Reasonable constructive criticism"... Hmmm... OK, let's give this a go Smile

I'm only going to comment on one image, as most of the points can be carried across to the others you've posted.

- Horrible font - are these screenshots from Powerpoint by any chance? The rendering is horrific. The "thin" ticker font is too thin and spread out. It'll be difficult to read once it's scrolling.
- Spacing - your text it too close to the edges of your rectangles
- Alignment - text needs to be vertically centred in their containers - have you made your own BBC News logo? The "NEWS" bit doesn't look like it's aligned properly to the BBC blocks.

- In the Victoria Derbyshire images, why isn't the programme bug aligned to the rest of the graphics (1 pixel up and 1 pixel left).

These things are all easily fixed by spending a little more time on your work, and casting a critical eye over it.

This only took a few minutes to throw together, and hopefully shows what you can create when you tidy these niggles up.

----

Side tip: When you've got really "crisp" edges to your text, it can help to resize your images in a programme which can resample properly. E.g. take your 1368x768 image and resize to 1280x720 - it will smooth out those edges nicely.

dosxuk, thank you for the 'reasonable constructive criticism',

I am taking all into account and will upload the improvements soon/tomorrow.

Can I ask, personally, not just you but for anyone else who does, can you stop saying 'it only took me five minutes' and posting an image of it. because even though your proving a point your still basically just copying it, not doing it from scratch, and in yours which you posted above the boxes aren't even the right size (but yes, 5 mins so..). I'll be honest and say that I did spend a couple of hours repositioning everything so that to me it looks right. But still even before I made everything I thought of ideas and possibilities.

Like I've said before, I'm only 14, I'm not trying to be the next person to get a 'Outstanding' mock, but I'm not trying to be the next FS Creative as well. So I expect people to criticise my work and I want people to as I can get me in a better direction

Ok, fixed the font issues and realigned the Victoria Derbyshire box, I've not moved the text further from the edge yet.
And lastly, I don't know what happened with the BBC News logo during these but I'll fix them in the next upload
