BBC Breakfast - New Set (WIP)

Hello,

I've been designing a new studio designed to fit in the current Salford set for Breakfast and NWT. It's currently not rendered or 100% complete/final (particularly stuff like the textures and backdrops) but I was interested to know people's thoughts and opinions as it stands to help me develop it further and render it correctly once it's in a more final state. The design takes some hints from the NBH sets as well as some of the newer regional sets such as the one at South East Today.

I thought the desk area could be used like older Breakfast days when the TOTH was presented from the desk for the news stories before heading to the sofa. Plus, it'd be great for sit-down interviews for the business section and would be useful for NWT.

It looks quite good but pretty certain this would not fit in the current space.

Since Breakfast performances are so rare I didn't think it worth keeping one considering the limited space - though I think the space in front of the video wall could act as one for smaller performances.



Here are some rough and ready floorplans of the mock I did for the existing Salford set and this one - there is obviously some guesswork since I don't have the all the details of the studio shape or the dimensions, but some others agreed that the dimensions of the existing Salford set mock looked about right.

Have they got one now. Don't see the need myself but the desk could be taken out easily enough.

As for the mock like the idea but think the video wall looks about 20 years out of date, even for BBC News.
