Hello all. I'm after some information if anyone can help
Most of Red Dwarf's Music was composed by Howard Goodall. However in Series 7 they didn't have much money for music, so they used Library music in a lot of places.
I know what the music sounds like, but does anyone know what library they might have used? Even better if you could tell me what tracks they used.
Well I thought the later series, had an increased budget, and Howard Goodall was happy to be composing music for full orchestras, so I am not sure how much Library music was used. Perhaps if you post sample clips of the music you are looking for, it may help...
About 3 quarters of Goodall's music was replaced by Library music.
There is information on composers somewhere on the Red Dwarf site, if you look in the old DVD news.

As littlesmegger says, it seems apparent that a lot of the music was library music for whatever reason. I thought as much because it didn't sound very Howard Goodall.
I'm actually after a specific track. Here's a clip of it. The music is at the beginning and near the end of this clip, i'm not sure if they're the same track though:
So dissapointing that this library music was not included on the Red Dwarf DVDs, as all Howards music has been included on them. The official website has this to say:
"In order to keep the escalating costs down, the editors made judicious use of music available in the library. Tracks in Beyond a Joke and Epideme, amongst others, were pre-existing but little heard tracks widely available in the industry. The most 'famous' piece used was the classic Voyager spoof music that introduced the X-tended tape's Tikka to Ride."
Unfortunetley, I havent a clue what they're called. But I remember one being used on Tomorrows World once.
If anyone has the Presidents Death cue, that would be awesome!
I love the music played over the credits of Stoke Me A Clipper and was dissapointed when it wasnt on the music cues
Which one do you mean? If you mean the end credits that one isn't really a problem, as they play the full track over the credits with no audio interuptions at all, so you can quite easily get a nice clean copy of that. The iceberg sequence though is impossible. It was nice to discover that the orchestral music used when Rimmers coffin was flying about was a Howard Goodall track and was thus included on the cues. I really liked that one.
You want music plase don't do it over the forum as there a rule stopping you. Clicky
Thanks for pointing that out, but if you read my post it says that i only want to know the library they used, even the track name if you have it but i didn't ask for a copy
