I know it's not out in this country but can anyone identify the music thats on the menu interface for the PlayStation 3, it's a old classical piece, I'm sure of that,

It's only one note. Hardly a classical piece. More like an orchestra tuning up!!!

May well be but how can we recognise it by the opening note?

Jesus, I just keep repeating myself here, it's a well known piece and it's known mostly from that part, there's surely someone who'll recognise it.

Er no. If it was easy to recognise you'd have an answer by now.
How can we recognise a piece of music however popular it may be from just one note. There are loads of classical pieces that one note could transform into.

It's extremely likely that, as with the previous 2 PlayStation start-up sounds, that this was especially composed for Sony.

I very much doubt that it is actually a part of a classical music piece, even though it may seem like that.

They used to manage it on "Name That Tune"

Not on just one note they didn't!!!

I think it might be well known as it's just been in an episode of Futurama Knew I'd heard it before.

So it must be out there.
