Not a musical request...just wondered if anyone could help piece together the presenter line up from the early days?
I know that John Suchet did a breakfast slot for a bit, and Alison Bell did 12-2 for a period, but hoped someone could maybe piece together a more complete line up?
Here's the ones which they mention:
Julia Somerville
Rob Curling
Sasha Herriman
John Suchet
Heather McCarthy
Angela Rippon
Carol Barnes
Anne Leuchars
John Nicholson
Alastair Stewart
Jonathan Morrell
Chris Rogers
Mark Webster
Owen Thomas
Faye Barker
From what I remember on the ITN News Channel, it was just a wild card of newscasters doing their respective hours:
Apart from
6am 0r 7am-8am: Whoever did the ITV Morning News
8am-10am: John Suchet
10am-12pm: Alison Bell
12pm-7pm: Anyone
7pm-9pm: Andrew Harvey
9pm-11pm: Julia Somerville
That is a very rough sketch but it was all from memory.

Does this help you, Breakfast News?

I think Alison Bell alternated days with Rachel McTavish. Also Leyla Daybelge did afternoons (1-4pm maybe?)
4pm was whoever was the 'secondary' presenter that night on Channel 4 News - usually Brigid Nzekwu, Sue Turton or Samira Ahmed.
A trait, from what I remember, of the ITN News Channel is that the Star Attraction Names [Harvey, Daybelge, Nzekwu etc.] did double-shifts at the time. In fact, I remember one Sunday in late 2000 - I did not switch the channel over at all that day - Leyla Daybelge did the breakfast time news and Leyla was still there by late afternoon, then Andrew Harvey took over the rest of the day. There must not have been not that many people working that day!

Only because the digital provider was not fuctioning properly and I couldn't switch over. And I still enjoyed watching it. Mind you, I did not have the television on all day. I never do.
I thought I would mention that to finalise the story. A bit of pointless information for you all. I am sure you all enjoyed it [!]

One final footnote, towards the end of the ITN News Channel, John Suchet's timeslot moved from 7am-10am. Which explains why he was the 'launch face' of the ITV News Channel.
