I thought that TV Forum's general look needs updating, so I've had a go at a design. Please give constructive comments.

Mmmmmmmm, its quite good, though a little bland. Its definitely a radical change.

Some of the forum images are pretty good, but there's a lot of empty space in the header.

I don't like the font, or the News 24 Tonight example of an image - I don't like how its split up.

NB: Please don't post the image on the page, its a direct link, and if you post it it will mess up the page layout.

I like it. You've kept the cool blue look, but but gave it a bit of an icy look. I suppose one could interpret it as bland. It's still nice, all the same.

but you never really want a lot on a home page do you?

No, I would guess not. We television station websites in the US that have entirely too much put on the front page.

I don't like the font in use, and all non-image text would need a generic font available on all computers (such as Arial, Verdana, ect). Generally the design is good, but needs some improvement, such as layout and padding.

No font is available on ALL computers, the best you can do for Arial is really

Arial -> Helvecta -> Sans-Serif

Sans-Serif is the group of fonts like Arial so should give a similiar effect on all OS's with it Smile

Times/New Roman is also a safe bet, as is Georgia in most cases and (yuck, yuck, yuck) Comic Sans. Don't use that last one.

On to the mock: the colours are great, and I like the overall idea although your use of the one font is almost overpowering. There are some good ideas mixed in with terrible ones, try and keep to something plain like Arial for the 'new messages'/username bit.

Nice but I think its a bit squashed together. 4/5

A few web safe fonts (they're called web-safe because the majority of users can see them, not because all of them can):

Arial (Mac equivalent Helvetica)
Times New Roman
Verdana
Georgia
Comic Sans
Trebuchet
Courier

However, a lot of the text on your homepage can be saved as images, only the username details should be in text format.

It's quite fresh and clean. Only the font shoud be changed.
I dont really think save all of them as images would be a good idea - it will take Asa a lot of time to do it and postpone loading the page.
