I like the concept of an entertaining news channel so i think reflex is a good name. But you definitely need to download a decent graphics program. I would recommend paint.net, its easy to use and it dosnt take long to learn what all the bits and bobs do.
Unlike many others on here, I NEVER think mocks are a waste of time, unless you are obviously taking the pish. As always, take the comments as constructive or pointing out obvious problem areas. Never stop as long as you are interested; this industry needs new blood. Do however start using at least a freeware version of the suggested software. Word and Powerpoint have no place in design.
You see the large light blue gap thing on the news bit. Will that be filled up depending on the size of the headline. I'm thinking it would be kind of like the channel 4 design where the words have a backing colour the same length as themselves.
I'll second Mustard in the anything that isn't photoshop is crap business. For a first attempt on word this is very good, although it's basic Mr Crocks has clearly put a lot of effort into it unlike the trolls on here.
Also, for those dissing powerpoint, there was a very good mock of the ITV News aston animation that was created with powerpoint a while back, so it's not completely hopeless.
As a mock in general, they're alright, but as a word job, they're very good. I don't think I'd be able to make a mock like this using word, so considering your limitations, I'm giving you a 4 star rating.
Could people stop stating it's done in Word? Not like it makes the mock any less craptastic but you get the idea, stick to Excel or something, you're at school right?

Thank you all very much for your comments
I will soon be investing in newer design software so
hopefully
my next mocks will be better
