ITV news

Come up with a new look for ITV News using the squares. The new logo has two parts. The 'itv news' logo has the yellow sqaure after the 'news'. And a large loo using the four squares (I don' think I've explained that too well). Anyway here it all is, maybe a bit tacky now I look back at it but anyway.

Hmmm not the best mock you've ever done. I like the idea of squares and believe that they will probably use them in the rumoured new look, but the colours you've chosen just look wrong. Maybe if you could give some examples of how other bits of presentation would look - it might look better when we see how it ties in with everything else.

I realy like it, the only thing im not sure about is the bold 'News' after the itv logo. I think it would look better in standard.

Not bad, but I don't think they would use the 4 squares as that's an ITV1 logo rather than the ITV News logo. Perhaps though they might use six (three blue, three yellow) to form the logo.

I did start using a slightly different version of mainly white in the background instead of all the yellow and blue squares, but to get the big ben reflection on the squares was causing me problems so I ended up having the yellow/blue squares in the background as well, which I think is what is the problem, theres just too much blue/yellow. I've also tried a new studio, but I can't get it quite how I want it so I keep starting again, I'll work on some graphics when I've finished that I hope.

It's really good! I like it until the blue square flies towards the screen, but at that point it cuts too abruptly and I don't like the final shot.

Oh, and that Ashfish productions thing scared the hell out of me!

I think there's no real concept there. The squares don't say anything at all to me. The only (VERY minor) link I can see to do with news is Big Ben.

Sketch out some sequences on paper, use your imagination a bit more. I'd try not to pile into Max and just make some stuff move for the hell of it to look "flashy"

Sorry but I think you're always a tad harsh with your comments henny! On most of your comments I've seen you've always picked out a slight resemblance the mocks in question have to something already done - I don't see why this is such a big deal. Firstly the examples you've given there are foreign channels - who is going to care if a *slightly* similar motif to theirs is used? Secondly it's very picky to say that you can't use a skewed square because it's been done before - come on, it's a skewed square - a common shape - why should it only be used once? I'm sure ashleyb did not deliberately set out to copy some french channels.

I just think it's being a tad pedantic to be honest...

Just telling you what I think, as you've come back at my mocks with similar comments before...

It would at least be something if his own mocks were spectacular!
