What did astronomers, or cars on a motorway, or workmen have to do with ITV when they used the hearts idents?

Theres more to a design than what it looks like or how good it is.

Well you wouldn't know - you apparently only joined today. Infact, I'm sure if you look at some of the threads on the up-to-date page, you'll find reassuring and positive comments. If you look at the designs, you'll see they are totally different to yours - a description of them would be skilled/planned/inspired/not rushed etc. Whereas yours are, boring/uninspired/rushed/inconsiderate/degrading etc.

Go here Craig. Look at my designs. If you're going to have a go at someone, be man enough to have a go at someone that DOES have experience.

But at least the "heart" was consistent in all idents. It also represented ITV's slogan at the time.

What a large ego you have. The fact that you are levelling with the "newbies" shows how patronising you are being.

Having experience doesn't necessarily mean you are good at it. In your case it probably does (Wink). I could easily pinpoint things I don't like about your designs. Again, you are implying that this is an impossibility because you received good feedback.

You have no room to talk craig, I dont see any of your designs anywhere - I'm sure I could say a thing or two about your work. I suggest you go pester someone your own size. I wont be dragged down to your level.

Dont bombard these posts with your comments over and over. You've had your say, now move on!

I'd leave him to it now Joe.

I just can't get my head around the reason why you're being so patronising. You've basically said to sirthaw that he's a crap designer who needs a helping hand from Mr. Experienced Brilliant Designer. At least I tell it how it is and don't hide behind disguised insults.

Seeming as though you're willing to help our little friend along - why not aid him with something more important, such as his spelling.

I see you don't point out that sirthaw was bombarding these posts with his comments over and over.

I think you too are failing to see the issue here. I'll again refer you to this:

What is this the result of? Laziness, something that is rushed etc. Why bother even including it? The logo isn't even a logo, it's just a font.

I'm sorry that you don't like the way I comment on "things" such as the above image. But who would prefer disguised insults over the obvious?

Come to think about it sirthaw - I think you've mis-interpreted (sp) Ministry's advice as a whole.
I'm all for encouraging our newer members to perhaps 'mock better', but it doesn't actually make older mocks any better.
Craig has actually told the truth - and has offered some advice. What you have done is incredibly unoriginal and uninspirational. You shouldn't sit at a blank canvas choosing a channel to mock next - you really need to mock something you have a good foundation to develop ideas on.
You can call them 'life idents' or whatever all you like, but without further development, to me they look like sumthin from Google Image Search with 'ITV' splashed on them.

Craig and Ministry -- I suggest you work out your differences via PM, because you've now forced me to respond to TWO threads because of your bickering.

If anyone has any further constructive comments about how to make better mocks in general, I would suggest they post them in the sticky thread at the top of this forum. It makes for a much easier digest of information as well.

Let us remember that it's okay to argue earnestly and truthfully about things , but attacking each other personally is highly unacceptable. If it continues, we're all going to have to have a little chat.

P.S.: my real name is richard h , I'm taking away your design licence.

OK, lets see. Flashy default text effects on some bog-standard PC-based app, overlayed onto a bit of already excellent video?

Animate it. Go on. Can you animate it....? Eeek, I don't think he can.

He doesn't have the experience.

Craig F - I have some slight regard for you, as you're totally honest and realistic on this board.Great. Cool

I have seven years experience working on websites, a new eMac G4 - not some crappy old PC. I use Photoshop 7, and I certainly do not use default text effects. You've been fooled. I'd love to see you try.

I dont know why you're being so mean towards me, all I'm trying to do is help someone with their designs. I'm here to have fun with my designs, looks like theres a lot of small minded jealous people out there.

But to be honest I couldn't give a flying turd what anyone else thinks, I know what I've achieved in my life so far, and I dont have any of you to thank for it.
