Five News

Just thought I'd have a bash at making some five news graphics to be used in short summary programmes to show weather, main news headlines and the actual news more or less at the same time!

The main news headlines with a small description animate at the bottom of the screen, and the main UK cities weather are animated up the left hand side. The graphics are all centred around a '5' at the bottom of the screen.

I'll start with the good old complaint about safe areas....
...done.

Moving on from that, it certainly is a unique design, and conceptwise I think it's quite brilliant - adaptable if you wanted to show travel info or financial or whatever. My gripe is the design is a little bland, and there is a strange 70s type feel to it I can't quite place my finger on. I think the culprit is that 5 being the centre of the graphic. Perhaps a bit more SPARK in its colour scheme? Gradiating tones of the various five news blues perhaps?
Not a bad effort though.

To start they are a bit too "grey". Five news is a blue or orange colour and so the grey looks too somber for normal news and not big deaths.
Second, like Barney Boo said, the safe-areas. You should start using them as they make a great difference to your work. Plus five is quite a young persons channel in some ways so the colours should have some lightning effects (eg liner or dots ect.) to make it look good.

Other then them, they are fine!
