BBC one (ident)

This is my first mock in over 18 months, so don't be too harsh about techniques I used. My Photoshop skills have sunk to an all-time low and I have to work out how to use this software again.

If the look is liked by the public I'll add more stuff like news-titles etc. to it.

I think the genral mock looks good, but maybe i would try it in red, as i think it suits BBC 1. Also either the globe or the BBC one logo is off centre, as neither quite line up, and what would this look like in widescreen. With almost every programme made in widescreen this issue will need to be addressed.

You're right, it's the logo that's out of centre. For the widescreen-issue: I never did much of my work in widescreen, I know it's a fault.

That looks smooth, I like the bottom stripe(?) - how would it be animated?

The URL shouldn't have 'www.' though, the BBC dropped it in their last online rebrand (though I can't really see why we'd need that on-screen anyway).

Also I can't really see the BBC using all lowercase for their channel names 'one' etc. either One or ONE seems fine but 'one' looks... it doesn't look like BBC English

I would like a not too fast-paced animation, the globe certainly would spin around with various flashes of light around it, the surrounding circles would pulsate while the landmasses at the background would float around, the landmasses in the lower strip would float too, though in different direction and at a different speed.

And you're totally right about the lowercase-thing.

It's weird how nobody really pays much in the way of lip-service to the 1991-1996 globe in all it's lovely reflective caustics glory but when the mocks come along, they all seem inspired one way or another by it.

Which is why the idea is quality, the imagery used to convince me so isn't though but that's not the idea. Anyway, anything to go with this? Some trailer endboards and ECPs would be nice.

Good point, 'twas a fine ident and no mistake. But then, I thought the BSB Galaxy ident was a thing of sheer beauty, and as the two were very similar in style, then that's no surprise.

As for this blue thing, well, the block at the bottom looks as though it belongs to a different image - the dividing line is too severe, or perhaps it's just the poor quality of the top half. Either way, the top and bottom don't really sit together. IMO.
