Very simple, yet very effective. I even like the music too.
It's interesting how graphical idents could be, yet with ITV1's new set, they haven't.
They are like ITV1's new ones in the idea that they show you the menu, and then the logo, but have been executed so much better, and simpler.
Any ideas on how this would look for Christmas? Would it simple be snowflakes falling around the logo?

My first video mock of this channel. Pretty simple, BBC One shows you the next one or two programmes coming up, then reveals the logo. Video or images would be placed in the red boxes on the menu.
Three different idents in this video file...
BBC One

The concept is very good, and I do like the end of each ident - but the menus need a bit of a tweak. Drop the music on the first ident to!
One suggestion is to base the menu on the current trailer endboards, having a list menu in the bottom 2/3 of the screen with the images playing in the top 1/3 - but obviously the current trailer style may not be appropriate for your designs.
P.S. For those of you uploading videos, please would it be possible for a couple of caps so people can get some idea of what they are downloading? Thanks.

Speech!
Those idents are really meant to be about feeling and imagination. The first ident, for example, is quite fast and mad. Fireworks or sparks are usually associated with something grand and exciting. Its all about how the idents would be used to introduce programmes, an ident like that would be good before an entertainment show in the evening. Its a sort of party-time feeling.
The third ident is fairly quiet and gave me the impression of being late at night... getting a bit tired... wanting to rest... I thought the music worked great with that last ident because of the way the whistle sound goes down. Visually you see that snow falling down, and the feeling you get (or what you're meant to get) is that you want to unwind.
So in a way, these idents are not only meant to give you something visually with sound, you're also meant to get a feeling. Whether I've accomplished that or not, I don't know! But that was the aim. The music was the best I could find on my computer. I can't really use library music unless I'm in the mood to be hanged, but I'm not. If I was able to create the music myself, I'd probably go for something atmospheric with some sort of music to it, but a bit more atmospheric for the slower idents.
The logo is central because I feel for the BBC's main channel the logo needs to be in a position where it is going to get the best attention. Its doing no good being in a corner somewhere, it needs to be infront of you. BBC One needs to be different from the BBC's other channels, because it is the main channel that you're meant to watch the most. You don't give it the same treatment as the other channels by creating idents of dancers and sticking the logo in a corner.
Speech over.
I rendered a Christmas one earlier, it was the 3rd ident but the falling red stuff was white and meant to be snow, and I added a bit of falling snow to the right side of the menu infront of the darker square but behind the lighter one. But what I really need to do is create something totally new for BBC One - that includes a new logo.
Thanks for the comments and ideas.

Nice concept but I don't like the idea of using the BBC London jingles as backing music.
Perhaps it's because I've heard the package before, but the music just doesn't suit what's on screen to be honest.

Thanks y'all for the comments and what have you. Like I said, the music was there because I could find nothing else on my computer. I'm burning lots of things to DVD so everything is a bit lost.
I have a personal mission to redesign a BBC One logo and turn the channel around in my own little world, I'll be back soon with some better ideas.

Right, some of these you can see are based on other BBC One mocks in this forum. If I can make a good one I'll use it in a new mock and create some graphics of some sort. I'm thinking BBC News ribbons, but in a different way...
These were done in Illustrator 10. Not my usual mocking program, but good for making logos!
