As we are now on fixed-term governments, I reckon Sky and the BBC will have a lot more power to "call" the start of the campaign as and when it suits them (maybe even January 5th?).

I think you somewhat overestimate our "pull"! Very Happy

You reckon? I think I'm underestimating it, personally Wink

I wonder when they'll begin the full-on election coverage? In recent years, as soon as the election has been called, they go into election mode with mega graphics and schedule changes. As well as the use of the corporate Sky font on that trailer, the last bit also possibly implies a new overall design (for election coverage at least).

I very much doubt this. For one the audience would be sick of 'election mode' with months to go. Secondly I presume the PM still has to go to the palace to request Parliament to be dissolved (regardless of fixed terms). That moment will herald the start of the election campaign and any change in output.

What he said!

Sounds promising... Graphics/studios following the recent rota changes. Who knows?

Maybe already from January 5th? I doubt it but I also doubt it that they will relaunch on election night again as 5 years ago

I know glass is the style employed by all of Sky's branding right now, but more flat design would be welcome IMO

The 'big screen' is so recent that they are hardly going to redo or move studios so soon? Presumably that is more of a long term thing (and something we would have heard about).

Definitely not a new studio but I rather thought about new graphics/music.

Hope they don't go down the Sky News Tonight route with any presentation changes, a strange pastiche of 2D and 3D elements.

SKYNews ran a coming up sequence with graphics after its second story like the BBC with stories at set times.
Probably just me that has not seen it.

When do you think Sky News will have to get or need a make over?

I will ask them and see if anything is going to be changing in the near future.
