Ah- the white TWO ident makes a comeback into TOTP2, a recreated from the original using the audio for the Christmas 1987 ident. Not a bad effort, but I'd rather see a re-done =2= myself.

The TWO ident (without music) and the =2= ident were both shown yesterday evening as part of the radio 1 night.

All I saw was the Rubiks Cube ident, and I recorded the whole night. Did they use it before the actual Radio 1 night started or something?

Anybody got a list of shows that these recreated idents might be appearing before in the next week or so?

They were shown during the Radio 1 night on BBC2 Wales (the =2= ident was shown before Blood on the Carpet and the Radio 1 Story, and the TWO ident was shown before Smashey and Nicey).

There's a series of 80s season programmes on BBC2 next Sunday from 9pm onwards, and another programme on Monday at 9pm, so the idents may well be shown at some point on one of these evenings.

In other news, Lambie-Nairn has uploaded some fairly high quality specimens of the 'Blue 2s' to their YouTube Channel. Now all we need is somebody to come up with an excuse for a 1990s theme night...

Huh, never noticed the little 'screechy' instrument before the bell in 'Silk' and the fact that the table wobbled a bit in 'Blade'.

Also good to see a high quality version of 'Balloon' and a half-length version of 'Ball' (Not Crystal Ball it seems)

I don't remember ever seeing 'Ball' before did it get dropped quickly?

Part of the 1993 batch, it lasted all of a few weeks. Did a nation(s) continue using it until 1997 or am I get mixed up with Glass?

Excellent ident!! I hope they keep this and not drop it at the end of this special season!

Great to see a new BBC2 ident for once!! They do really need some more desperately!

I think the feeling was that the 2 logo wasn't on screen long enough for it to be registered by the viewers, so Ball got dropped. Ahem ... Channel 4 ... cough cough

I think the 4 in today's Channel 4 idents is much more noticeable. The two in ball is quite hard to find because it's on so momentarily and often mis-shaped.
