Animal Hospital titles on the TV at 8 seconds in- surely the BBC would rather forget that existed Laughing

Harris aside, it was a successful programme for the BBC, running for ten years. Don't believe it was repeated anywhere after its initial run so it's not like it was actively on air and then yanked after the revelations.

But anyway, "set top box costing several hundred pounds" - that appears to be suggesting what launched as onDigital, weren't all those boxes given free when you signed up?

If I recall, at launch OnDigital STB's were £199. I remember joining OnDigital in 2000 after the boxes became free with a sub.

£159.99 for existing Sky analogue customers to upgrade as shown on the Sky Digital Information Channel and I think the same as OnDigital for new customers?

I remember seeing that Sky Digital loop when I was on holiday in Center Parcs at the start of 1999 (during the downtime of one of the Sky Sports channels, I think). IIRC it had bits with people popping up and saying "I've seen the future"- doesn't seem to be any of those in that video though.

Unless I'm mistaken, people with SD Sky boxes are still using that same EPG design nearly 18 years on too!

Note at 0:38 - the original Sky Digital remote with the old lozenge logo at the top, which was instantly outdated as that logo was replaced the day Sky Digital launched!

This is a real find - video of the Westward/TSW handover on New Year's Eve 1981. Previously only available online in audio form.

I'm speechless, quite a contrast to the wrist slashing going on along the coast in Southampton !

Now that is what I call a handover. Co-ordinated between the two franchises to ensure that it was really business as usual.

Technically TSW had bought Westward a few months earlier though. So really it was just TSW using their brand on screen for the first time.

If that was the case, could the Westward and TSW continuity sets have been in the same studio so just a simple case of cutting to another camera?

Easily, but if you notice the clip its the same people in different outfits. One or the other (or possibly both) of the links would have been recorded.

Apparently Kaleidoscope found the footage and aired some of it at one of their events in 2012:
