I couldn't see a thread for channel4.com so thought I'd make one.

Saw a billboard advert today for www.channel4.com/watchonline - how long has that been available for? I don't recall Channel 4 offering streaming programmes before (except the now defunct Channel 4 live stream)?

Seems a bit of a backwards step using Windows Media though.

Still can't use it on Mac though! I wish they'd sort that.

It's DRM, you see. There's no way to cover multiple OSs with DRM - or at least with a well known system. Plus, Mac is rubbish

however iplayer uses flash for streaming. which 4od should use as their interface is shocking.

What's the difference between this and 4OD?

it's less obvious than the difference between iplayer streaming and iplayer downloads but it would allow those unwilling or unable to install kontiki on their machines to watch programming if nothing else.

also reaching the latest episode of hollyoaks requires two clicks, rather than search by name, find name, click name, find episode, open episode, tell it you don't want pin access AGAIN, sign in, again, "order" your free show, watch it break, and repeat until it works.

I think the whole of the channel4.com site has a horrible design.

The homepage is terrible - lots of gaps everywhere and why do I get a horizontal scrollbar when my screen resolution is 1280x960...? It makes no sense.

It would be much nicer if they followed www.e4.com 's design and went a bit Web 2.0.

The Big Brother site is quite nice though - http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/

I agree about the Watch Online section - not very inspiring and a bit difficult tracking down shows. It would be much better if they went with Flash and without the popup windows to watch shows in, and had some sort of coherent A-Z or List By Day grid for shows available online.

The whole thing is backwards - it doesn't even work in Firefox, let alone OS X or Linux. Poor.

www.4music.com is now live, very nice design with the Channel 4 logos at the top and the Box Television logos at the bottom.

It would be nice if the whole of channel4.com took on this design (minus the Box Television logos).

Technologically, it is very poor, but once you get it all working in IE by pasting the URL in (in my case), its not too bad. It's not a patch on the iPlayer though.

That's flippin' gorgeous, I really love it. The only improvement I can think of is that they could centre it, but its still great.
