Channel 5 - New Look Feb 11th

I would like to see the five logo, somewhere in the idents. At least with broken parts of the 4, you make the subliminal connection.

I 've puzzled over the 5 DOG though. Even on 5HD it appears to still be in the 4:3 safe area for some reason - and I think it should be circled. When there is a lot of movement on the screen, it's getting lost in the background.
Other than that...

It's not often we hear people on here complaining that a DOG is not visible enough.

But it is a valid point. If you going to identify yourself on screen during the programmes - something 5 has done from second 1 on air, make it visible.
Maybe it's the difference between this 5 DOG and the massive 5 of the last rebrand that I'm noticing..

But you don't need DOGs anymore for that. Every digibox, no matter whether Freeview, Freesat, Sky or Virgin Media, has a means of identifying channel and programme anytime you want that info. DOGs are basically useless these days.

Not only that, but usually the least visible DOGs are the ones that cause the most annoyance because they are clearer on some backgrounds than others, giving the impression they keep disappearing then reappearing. My issue with this new one is it's awful quality in SD, almost like it's been produced by a 1980's Amiga. I have a feeling it will be tweaked at some point.

The rest of the package is very strong, though I agree there needs to be some form of branding on the idents - again I think this will be tweaked. Also the programme name and time is too quickly replaced by the 5 logo on promos.

That's nit picking though - all in all, very good.

Someone was disappointed at the implication that the website would just have a quick lick of paint, but they seem to have gone all out and replaced the site with this nice shiny new one unless I'm mistaken?

My5 on the PC at least is a massive improvement on Demand 5.

Demand 5 and the awful UI remains on the LG Smart TV and NOW TV Box.

I think the DOG Looks better like this. Also, they should bring back the 'Subtitles' Tag.

Surely that's the job of the EPG nowadays?

Pleasantly surprised by the new channel 5 branding. The fonts are a little all over the place with the channel, logos, and news.

Normally I'd use the requests forum, but as this stand we can't. Does anyone have the full version of the original 5 News music from when the channel launched.

I thought I has it but couldn't find it on any of my hard drives.

Haven't seen loads of the rebrand, but think i've seen enough to start discussing it.

Overall I really like the rebrand, and think it should work well for them.

I like the C5 idents, although like others have said, I feel they need the logo somewhere (just as long as its not just slapped on in the centre).
I love the promo graphics, very sleek and modern, although if I did have to critisise them, i'd say some of the writing looks quite small on them, and the programme info doesn't stay on long enough before showing the 5 logo.
I agree that they should have brought break bumpers back, it can be a little jarring at times.

LOVE 5USA, the idents and music are lovely, and again, promos are very sleek and well made, I love how the 5USA logo is incorporated into the idents in various forms, without being slapped on.

Speaking of slapped on logos.... 5star! Oh dear!
The idents themselves I actually quite like, with the projections and the music, but then the logo just appears. Why didn't they have the logo in parts of the projections so it could move with the imagery, that could have looked quite nice.
Also, are there only 3 5star idents? If so, I think they could do with some more, although maybe more will be gradually added with time, as I feel 5 and 5USA also need a few more idents.

I love the new website, so pleased they appear to have started it all again from scratch. Haven't used much of it yet, and haven't tried My5 yet.

These days it's easier to tag those programmes without subtitles
