Yep it is a stylised 5 made out of 5 bits. I've seen it briefly and it doesn't look as cute and cuddly as the current 5. Hard to describe but it's 'swooshiness' (my word) actually made me think of the logo for the ill-fated Consignia (Royal Mail)
We've all seen it. It's on the first post of this thread!

BTTV's EPG has the new 5Star logo. Don't know how to upload it here though.
It's a little better, but the name itself is still crap. The slant of the A is very 'Spike'-ish. I wonder if the A in 5 USA will have something like this also? Has its logo been changed yet?
Undoubtedly, it will result in a bigger DOG on screen now, but if they don't mess up the positioning of them then they should be fine. If they mess them up like they did the Channel 5 logo (during 4:3 programmes at least) then there is no hope for common sense really. Hopefully this actually is a new look and not a new logo slapped on to something that already exists.
The word STAR is smaller than the 5, so I wonder if that is how it will be on screen, and if 5 USA will be stylised the same way?
Strange they are updating the logos now, surely this will confuse some people?

Personally, I'd have no issues with DOGs if broadcasters placed them at the bottom of the screen, it's only when they're at the top they're annoyingly intrusive.

The trouble being they they will interfere with any lower third graphics or captions used by the programmes

I used to think this too but I now think they are less intrusive placed in the top corner of the screen, provided they aren't too large/bright/colourful.
