After seeing a newly added weather forecast from the 1960s, and I apologise if this answer is blatantly obvious to some, but how are these clips captured? Surely home recording equipment back then was sparse and expensive.
Telerecordings -- pointing a film camera at a TV screen, setting the frame rate to match the picture frequency rate, and voila. It's how all the early/live Hancock Half Hours were recorded.
A few things that have been niggling me for a while on the ITV News Lunch page:
1) A few of the ITN lunchtime news clips are incorrectly dated and out of sequence. It's all OK until the 1987-1988 section. The two "News at One" clips in that section should both be 1988 (one of them is currently 1987).
2) In the 1988-1989 section, the first clip (News at 12:30 1988) should actually be dated 1987 and should be placed BEFORE the clips mentioned in point 1). This is because the News at 12:30 launched when Leonard Parkin retired in July 1987 and the bulletin moved back to News at One in early 1988).
3) The second clip in the 1988-1989 section (News at 12:30 1989) is incorrectly dated. It's actually from 1991. As a result, it should be placed AFTER the clip that follows it on the page (News at One 1989, which is correct).
I've confirmed these dates with reference to clips on NewsFilm Online. The lunchtime bulletin changed slots more frequently than the layout of the current TV Ark page suggests. It should be as follows:
1972-1976 First Report
1976-1987 News at One
1987-1988 News at 12:30
1988-1991 News at One
1991-1992 News at 12:30 (changed to 12:30 because of the Gulf War)
1992-present Lunchtime News
In its current state the TV Ark leads one to incorrectly believe it changed like this:
1972-1976 First Report
1976-1988 News at One
1988-1989 News at 12:30
1989-1992 News at One
1992-present Lunchtime News
Sorry for the rather long-winded explanation. It's quite difficult to express something so complex succinctly. Hope it helps to make the page more accurate, anyway.

There's always their convoluted contact form if you need to tell them how they screwed up, where and how badly.

That's a good point! Why didn't I think of that? Duh!

I used the form, I was able to make number of new details / correction to be made for Scottish page, not all details have beenchanged, for Stv and Gtv pagegs. I dare say new clips need to be added to allow the new.details to be fully included.
Saying that some changes have yet to be done on Grampian ident/ CA page to make them correct.

Does anyone else think the htv pages are bit strange? There 5 different links which all include idents, making it bit hard to follow some pages have litte from 93 ---. While another page has a more complete details.
There only needs to be three - 1968-2002 HTV; 1970-1992, 2002-present HTV Wales/ITV1 Wales, and 1970-1992, 2002-2006 HTV West/ITV1 West (there's no split region branding in 1968-9 and 1993-2002).

I would love to see a simpler HTV page but Im not sure how that going to happen!

I would like to see TV-ARK introduce a comments section, much like YouTube. It would make it a lot more interactive.

Well it's an idea being worked on behind the scenes, it was actually on the cards back when we launched the flash player but we decided against it at the time, mainly because moving away from flash was the priority.
