Various French blogs are reporting that Eurosport will get a new logo soon. Reportedly, the logo change will happen Q2 this year. This will be Eurosport's fourth logo since it launched in 1989.

The new logo is very similar to its predecessors, and seems to be more a natural evoluton that a revolution. It is probably a reflection of the fact that Eurosport has expanded from a single channel to a masterbrand with lots of subbrands. I've never thought all those added labels (2, HD, 2 HD, .com, News, Mobile, Player etc.) sat neatly with the old logo, and they look better now.

The extra bits look rather clumsy still in my opinion.

Er yes... not much has changed besides the font. The DOGs (which is the only place the logo seems to appear - the "idents"/stings are just single glass stars - will still be too big, too colourful and too distracting when I'm watching non-BBC snooker tournaments.

I've been waiting for this for a couple of months. It's the work of Lambie-Nairn (no real surprise, as they've got the TF1 account as well).

The fact they were working with Eurosport, was buried in the news section of the website last October time. They said the first appearance of 'the brand extension' would be seen in December last year.

Like most of the schedule of Eurosport and Eurosport2 on the EPG, it's running late...

RIght - and they still haven't fixed a problem with the current branding, with the new lot. The word 'British' is still going to be lost with the first star over the word 'Euro'..

Nice to see there are plans for Eurosport2 HD though...

I believe Eurosport 2 HD is already broadcasting in Europe.

Fourth logo? Confused

I can only remember them ever having two logos:

This one: http://hub.tv-ark.org.uk/images/skytv/sky_images/launch/eurosport_ident_1989a-01.jpg (TV Ark)
and this one: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/49/Eurosport_logo.svg/250px-Eurosport_logo.svg.png which launched around 1994 if I remember. So unless they've made some slight tweaks to that one over the years, I make that only two logos!

They introduced a new logo in 2001. Although it looked very much like the 1994 logo, it was clearly a different logo.

Do they still use the "British" tag on-screen on British Eurosport?

Back when the channel started around 1999, it was clearly needed to show it was different from the analogue "Pan-European" version, but now it is a bit redundant. Most channels on Sky are specific UK/Ireland versions, and they don't need to brag about it.

Er, yeah, 'clearly different' indeed! Rolling Eyes

So what's the difference in this newest version, only white stars and smaller font. Rolling Eyes

They could use a new presentation look too, this one's been used for ages it seems...

Yes - It's branded as British Eurosport, and the DOG on Sky 410 says that - as do the trail voicers.
And 'British' is also used for UK/Ire opt-out overspill coverage on Eurosport2, although sometimes the 'British' isn't over the Eurosport logo and ends up on the opposite side of the screen.
