I believe it is. That's the problem watching Chaser shows, you don't always know who the people they are talking about are. But I have picked up some things.

Yes We Canberra was amazing.

If you thought The Chaser was good, watch Gruen Nation, a weekly program in the month leading up to the election (and based on the regular program, Gruen Transfer ) with a cutting, satirical take on campaign advertising. If I'm not wrong, these are the downloads, courtesy ABC:

Channel 11 looks like an E4 clone. Does Australia have any sort of originality in anything it does in TV?

Very little (The Chaser is an exception)

Question, it seems when a 3rd digital channel by the main networks is launched the HD simulcast of the main network (eg. 7HD, 9HD, Ten HD) is ditched and replaced with a HD multichannel. Is there a reason for that?

I may be wrong in this, but I think Australia has some very odd rules regarding regulation of DTT - I'm sure I read something saying the commercial networks are currently only allowed 3 networks each on the spectrum as it stands. As there are now all launching third networks, they're having to replace the HD simulcast of the main network with a new HD-channel. Except Ten, which already replaced Ten HD with an HD simulcast of its new sports channel, the aptly named One HD - and I think its SD equivalent will be replaced by 11 when it launches.

I'm sure theres a similar reason behind why ABC had to replace ABC HD with an HD news channel, which seems a bit of a waste of HD, but there was no other way to launch ABC News 24. I may be wrong in this however.

For those going to discuss about TV presentations other than TV news please move to a new thread.

Hi Guys,

Being from Australia,I thought I would let you guys know about the digital stuff. Each network is allowed only 3 channels until the digital switch-off.This is the reason behind the changes. So the current list of freeview channels are:

ABC1
ABC2
ABC3
ABC News24
SBS ONE
SBS TWO
Seven
7Two
7Mate
Nine
Gem HD
GO!
Ten
One HD
One SD - This channel is a simulcast of ONE HD and only exists until Janurary
Eleven - Launches Janurary 2011 and replaces One SD.

This is a far cry from what we used to have!
