ITV News from UTV?

Nothing would surprise me, given the way ITV has incorporated "ITV News" into the names of some of their regional news programmes, with ITV News Channel TV being a classic example.

Wouldn't surprise me if they called it ITV News UTV, based on that image.

It does have a ring to it. Only a matter of time before they change the logo on the titles

If things are ultimately heading towards the ITV name fully squeezing out the UTV name, then I despise the messy way that they're going about it.

We've already starting having announcers saying "UTV" over visually "ITV" idents. And now an online logo that reads "ITV News UTV", which may or may not be an indication of where the TV news bulletins' branding is now headed.

Two or more different TLAs (Three Letter Abbreviations) within a single name always has been, and always will be, an utterly rubbish idea. Things like "ITV HTV" and "ITV LWT" were specifically avoided in the past, precisely because it looks and sounds rubbish.

That said, the aforementioned common sense of 2004 had clearly departed ITV plc by 2011 (evidenced by the tautological idiocy of "ITV (News) Channel TV") and is seemingly yet to return.

I bet that those behind this name also say things like "PIN Number", "ATM Machine", and "PPE Equipment". Ugh.

Perhaps it will officially be ITV News UTV, but will be referred to verbally as ITV News from UTV, or something like that.

Haven't watched "ITV News Channel TV" for a while, but when I have in the past, I seem to remember it being referred to verbally as things like "ITV News from Channel" or "ITV News from Channel Television"

"ITV HTV" wasn't completely avoided in the past. For example, when ITV initially joined the Sky EPG, the HTV regions were originally called "ITV1 HTV Wales" and "ITV1 HTV West"

Maybe UTV Life might be renamed something like 'The Pamela Ballantine Show' or something as it doesn't seem to be making a return along with the on air name of UTV

I might email them with my idea from upthread...

I do wonder what potential new name UTV Life could have, if this were the way that things ultimately go. My suggestion would be Night Life, with a logo that somehow emphasises the first two letters (N.I. - geddit?!).

How about Ulster life?

I would imagine they will want to avoid any use of Ulster in the title and if it renamed, would be something like the aforementioned Night Life or NI Life or something along those lines.

Just wondering if ITV may take Utv's birthday to implement any changes any thoughts on this as we already have the main itv dog on screen now anyway so would not be hard to carry the process on.

I doubt that their 61st birthday will have anything done, especially since they did nothing for their 60th.

And I don’t think it’ll be mentioned by the continuity announcer.
