They've been playing the Good Morning Britain theme on Radio X this morning.

Co-incidently though, it was part of a guess the theme tunes item and some listeners texted in to let them know about the anniversary

I noticed that virtually the whole of the first morning is on YouTube and was sad enough to watch a bit of it in real time. So I've finally been able to see how much of a total disaster it was. The whole 3 hours is just so awful and totally devoid of any of the conventions of breakfast TV we know today.

In fact the best thing about it was Nick Owen, he was doing the sports news on day 1 and was far more likeable and watchable than any of the other better known presenters. It's no surprise he was soon promoted to the sofa

There's a reply from Erron Gordon of modern day Good Morning Britain on that TV-am Twitter page who says that he loves how the logo and clock didn't change during the whole time, yet he's constantly re-commissioning new music and updating the look of the current Good Morning Britain.

I think breakfast TV is crying out for more Farming Experts and Weather Commanders.

Applemask did a nice thing on youtube where he put all the ads on his channel and released them at the times they would have roughly been on during day 1.

I've also watched some of it. It was really what you would have perhaps expected the BBC to produce: formal, very news based. the presenters seemed to be trying too hard to inject meaningless banter into a format which didn't really support it.

However, the BBC had gone in the opposite direction a couple of weeks earlier: woolly jumpers, exercise sessions and horoscopes.
